  • Natural Wonders: How Clean is Our Water?

    Ages 4-8 years and a caregiver Lakeside Park in Bayport June 1st 11:15-12:45pm $20/family Join us at Lakeside Park to explore what's in the river that runs through our community. We'll learn how to help keep the water clean and alternatives to using plastics to help protect our waterways. We'll have a special guest naturalist who traveled to Baja the summer of 2022 to learn how the plastics we use here in MN end up in the ocean. We recommend wearing rubber boots to this class if you have them.

    Play Time and Picnic Story Time Ages: 2-5 Years and a Caregiver Class Fee: $15.00 per family Story time and playtime are great opportunities for your children to socialize with other young children, while also developing cognitive, and motor skills. Be ready to sing songs and engage in fun learning activities together. After our songs and activities, we will settle down for a picnic and story time at the end of class, so please bring your lunch and a blanket. The Play Time and Picnic Time will take place at the ECFC Playground with a back up plan to move inside if the weather dictates.

Dinner is provided on the first night of class. Geared toward those who are 22-30 weeks pregnant or will be welcoming a baby through adoption or surrogacy in the coming months (partners are welcome to attend as well). This course is supported by a generous grant from the St. Croix Valley Foundation.     Social Justice Parenting - Book Study Join Parent & Family Educator, Jenny Hanlon this summer for an engaging discussion on the book Social Justice Parenting: How to Raise Compassionate, Anti-Racist, Justice-Minded Kids in an Unjust World. Location: Early Childhood Family Center Playground, 1111 S. Holcombe St., Stillwater. Unfortunately we cannot provide child care, but feel free to bring your children and dinner along.     Teddy Bear Time 900-8C/ Early Childhood Family Center Playground Ages: 2-5 years and a Caregiver Class Fee: $15.00 per family Bring your favorite stuffed animal or stuffed toy and join us for an exciting time to learn about teddy bears and real bears. Playing with teddy bears and other stuffed animal friends allows children to practice the life skills they are constantly observing. Teddy Bear Time will take place outside on the ECFC playground with a backup plan to move inside if the weather dictates.

  • The Period of PURPLE Crying

    The Period of PURPLE Crying program is an evidence-based shaken baby syndrome/abusive head trauma (SBS/AHT) prevention program available since 2007. The program has two aims: 1. To support parents and caregivers in their understanding of early increased infant crying 2. To reduce the incidence of SBS/AHT The program approaches SBS/AHT and infant abuse prevention by helping parents and caregivers understand the frustrating features of crying in normal, healthy infants that can lead to shaking or abuse. The program provides the opportunity for parents to learn about the crying characteristics from over 50 years of research on normal infant crying conducted by Dr. Ronald G. Barr, and other scientists worldwide. This course is geared toward those who are pregnant or have recently welcomed a newborn. The Period of PURPLE Crying is heightened in newborns between 2-8 weeks of age. This one-time class will be held virtually, with packet information to be picked up at the Early Childhood Family Center a few days before the class. This class is offered each month on the second Tuesday at 1 pm. The class will last roughly 45 minutes. Register for one session. Cost: $5/ person.     Toddler TIme- Gradually Separating Explore our enchanting toddler class, a haven of discovery for your little ones! Immerse your child in a world of joyous learning, where each class will unfold with exciting adventures and age-appropriate activities. Our toddler classes spend a portion of each class in our outdoor classroom. Outdoor gear is provided for the children when it's needed.

This class invites parents and children to explore the wonders of the underwater realm through engaging activities and imaginative play. From storytelling to sensory experiences inspired by the ocean, this class is designed to stimulate creativity and curiosity. Watch as your learner embarks on a journey of discovery, encountering sea creatures and exploring the world underwater. Join us for a splashing good time!   • Valley Kids Safety Camp

    Valley Kids Safety Camp is offered at the Early Childhood Family Center. Children entering kindergarten in the fall are eligible to attend! During camp , children will learn about safety at home, in the community and in school. Children learn about safety at home, in the community and school. Camp includes indoor and outdoor activities. Participants must bring a bike helmet. Parent participation: Parents/guardians are required to attend an informative parent class while their children are attending the first day of Safety Camp on May 28th or June 3rd. Childcare for younger children is available during the parent session for an additional $5.00/family with preregistration.
