    Complete boating course for new and experienced boaters. Cover skills you need to enjoy your time on the water as a safe, confident boater. Topics include navigation rules and aids, required safety equipment, anchoring, personal watercraft safety, and more. Meets requirements for operator certification in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Class Manual included. This is a hybrid class, where you can attend in person or online through GoToMeeting. Class will be held at Bayport Marina Club House (200 5th Ave. Bayport, MN 55003). For the final class there will be a test and it must be completed in person.

    In a mere two hours, instructor Mike Alwin will teach you everything you need to know about this thoroughly engrossing sport. You will learn about the equipment (rods, reels, lines, leaders, flies), the fish species available to the fly angler, where to fish (secret spots), and how to get started. A casting demonstration is included in this class. Mike has been fly fishing for over fifty years and is the former owner of Bob Mitchell’s Fly Shop. He started teaching fly fishing schools in 1980 and is an enthusiastic instructor in spite of his mind-numbing array of seemingly pointless anecdotes.

You could rebuild it if only you could remember the knots. Like it or not, you're done fishing. You need two knots in order to go fly fishing. This two hour class will teach you those plus a couple of others and give you plenty of practice on each one. You will be a knot tying expert. During the forty plus years that instructor Mike has been teaching fly fishing skills, teaching knot tying has always been among his favorite skill sets.
