Gray Matters: Understanding Depression in Older Adults

Courses Adult / Body, Mind and Spirit -
Fall 2025

Feelings of sadness, loneliness, and grief are normal in older adults. However, when this sadness is intense, felt for a long period of time, and interferes with our ability to get along with others or to carry out the activities of everyday life, it could be depression. Depression is not a normal part of aging. This program covers risk factors, warning signs, treatment, recovery, suicide prevention, and resources for depression in older adults.

There is no charge for this class thanks to a Vibrant Communities Mental Health grant from the Lower St. Croix Valley Foundation, St. Croix Valley Foundation and an anonymous donor advised fund.
