  • Acting for the Stage and Camera "Drama Club"

    Interested in performing on stage or behind the camera? Learn more about theatre or improve your theatre skills in this fun and interactive environment. Some opportunities may include: acting technique, character development, monologues, scene work, technical theatre, auditioning, masks, stage makeup, puppetry, improvisation, playwriting, and theatre games.
  • Adult and Child Gymnastics

    This adult and child class will focus on basic movements and tumbling skills, body awareness, motor skills, hand-eye coordination, balance and listening. We must have a 1:1 adult/child ratio for this class, therefore an adult must be with EACH child in all classes. Designed for ages 2 - 4 years old. For Gymnastics classes, shorts, t-shirt or a leotard are recommended. Loose fitting clothing, tights, socks and ballet shoes are not recommended. Long hair should be tied back in a ponytail or braid.
  • Advantage Education - Self-Paced Online ACT Course

    Advantage Educational Programs, in cooperation with Stillwater Area Community Education, will provide students an opportunity to prepare for the ACT national exam through their In-School ACT Prep Course, Virtual ACT Prep Course, or their Online ACT Prep Course. All three courses are designed for students who want to maximize their ACT score, as well as students who feel uneasy about their test-taking skills or are unsatisfied with results from a previous exam. For questions/information, contact Advantage at 612-222-5108. Self-Paced Online ACT Prep Course: This course is designed for students who prefer to prepare for the ACT exam on their own schedule and at their own pace. Instruction is pre-recorded and provided online, using videos and slides. Once enrolled, students may use the access code they receive to navigate through the course on their own timeline throughout the year.

    The Math Club will help students reinforce their math learning, revisit unclear concepts, master new skills, and build confidence. We will primarily be using Khan Academy to personalize learning and empower each student. Students will receive the most benefit if they can commit to attending on a regular basis.

    Babysitting is often a teenager's first business. Babysitter's Training from the American Red Cross brings the best in child development and safety training. It builds confidence to hold, feed and care for infants and toddlers, work with children safely, and deal with emergencies. It also teaches lifelong entrepreneurial and career development skills. Please bring a bag lunch.

    Birthday Parties at Oak-Land Pool

    Bring your child and up to fourteen of his/her friends to celebrate their birthday at the Pony Activity Center (PAC), Early Childhood Family Center (ECFC) or Oak-Land Middle School for a pool party. Birthday groups will have access to one gym for 1.5 hours with 30 minute reserved space for cake and refreshments. Pool birthday parties will have use of the pool for 1.25 hours with 45 minute reserved space for cake and refreshments. There will be staff on site to assist with setup/cleanup of equipment and answer any questions you may have during the party. Appropriate supervision of children (at least 2 adults) is required and must be present for the duration of the party. All food and refreshments are provided by the hosting birthday party group. Tables and chairs will be provided for food and refreshments. Latex balloons are not allowed for birthday parties due to allergies. Registration must be completed 14 days prior to the party date. Cancellations must be made two weeks prior to the party to receive a refund minus the $5 cancellation fee. All children attending the birthday party will need a signed waiver turned in before the birthday party begins. PAC Birthday Parties are intended for children ages 4-12 years of age. Gym games and activities may include: basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, whiffle ball, football and more. The staff will provide the necessary equipment; the host will organize and direct the party games. Parties available on select Saturdays and Sundays. Cost is $100 per party at the PAC. ECFC Birthday Parties are intended for children ages 2-6 years of age. We will provide hula hoops, scooters, trikes, play balls, small basketball hoops, gymnastics mats for tumbling, and access to our move and learn climbing town. Parties available on select Saturdays. Time of birthday party is dependent on building schedule. Cost: $155.00 at ECFC / 14 children max / 2 adults must be present for duration of party supervising the group of children. Pool Birthday Parties are intended for children ages 5-12 years of age. One Lifeguard will be provided and 2 adults must be present for the duration of the party. Only Coast Guard approved life jackets are allowed. No rafts, tubes or super-soakers. The Lifeguard will provide life jackets if needed; the host will organize and direct the party games. Parties available on select Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Cost is $225 per party at Oak-Land Middle School.     CHEM stands for Character, Hand, Eye, and Mind. We teach your child accountability, making quick decisions to problem solve, positive attitude, and coping strategies for use on and off the court. Children learn a combination of hand-eye coordination and mental focus to improve and develop fundamentals of each sport. All equipment provided. Intermediate Class - Participants must have already earned a yellow wristband or higher from CHEM Athletics OR be in 4th grade or higher.

    Learn strategy, tactics and valuable problem solving skills with the game of chess! Discover different advanced beginner and intermediate chess concepts and moves, practice positions, solve complex chess puzzles and test your skills against other students. Coaches often feature in-class tournaments throughout the session. Each session ends with students playing 20-30 minutes of chess.     Ninja Obstacle Training is extremely popular with kids and is a fun, unique was to develop confidence, strength, endurance, balance, and friendships! Not only is it the fastest growing sport, but it is the fastest growing cross-training sport as well. Athletes benefit from training in agility, power, perseverance, and resilience; attributes that all athletes strive to improve. Practice on real obstacles inspired by the tv show such as warped walls, salmon ladders, tilting ladders and much more! Kids ages 6-13 of all experience levels will learn the styles and techniques to develop their ninja skills with over 40 different obstacles! This 8 week long course consists of six practices and two competitions (weeks 4 and 8). Class is located at the Conquer Ninja Gyms - Woodbury (707 Commerce Dr. Suite 120, Woodbury, MN 55125)

    Get pumped and primed for the year end-in class tournament. Come and learn new skills each class, practice them in kid-friendly fencing games, and then use the skills in fencing bouts (matches).   • In the Spotlight: Pirates, Princesses, Monsters & Mermaids

    Ahoy, all seafaring storytellers! Time to set sail on the salty sea, or dive below, and take audiences on an imagined underwater adventure! Each student will explore the depths of creativity and performance as they embody their favorite pirate, princess, sea monster, or mermaid to create an original sea story that’s all their own! Through a partnership with The Zephyr Theatre, this theatrical adventure will strengthen each child’s social skills and emotional development. Invent a new mythical sea beast, become a musical mermaid , or become the captain of your own ship! The choice is yours as you create a spectacular showcase to be presented during the last 30 minutes of the final class.

    Ninja's develop strength and agility during this 8 weeklong course by learning different styles and techniques to master all obstacles! We have warped walls, angled steps, salmon ladders, cliff hangers, tilted ladders; all Ninja inspired obstacles! Increase flexibility, problem-solving, and coordination that can be transferred into ninja levels testing or enhance other athletic performances.     This is an off-season workout program offered to those gymnastics that compete under the MAGA (Midwest Amateur Gymnastics Association) rules. Development of advanced skills and competition are the focus of this group. Participation in this team requires the gymnast to have mastered a specific skill set, therefore all registrations must be approved by the lead coach.

    The SMS Spring Pony Power & Performance is an instructional program for younger students and athletes that focuses on strength, agility, power and speed. This is open to all students entering grades 5-8 who are interested in conditioning, strengthening or athletic improvement. Individualized programs are created to develop the beginning middle school athlete through the experienced athlete. Certified (CSCS) instructors will work with each student to provide the best and most appropriate comprehensive program.
  • Middle School Spring Musical Seussical Jr - Grades 6-8

    Actors register for 606-OMS or 606-SMS --- Students interested in learning the Technical aspects - register for 606-OMST or 606-SMST "Oh, the thinks you can think" when Dr. Seuss' best-loved characters collide and cavort in an unforgettable musical caper! Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant! The winter theatre play production provides opportunities for students both onstage and backstage. Roles will be determined from auditions and decided by the director. Auditions will be held the first few days of class. Those interested in backstage opportunities will be assigned by the technical director. Rehearsal schedule will be determined by role.
