Caring for a Crying Baby: Managing Stress and Building ConfidenceWelcoming a BabyCaring for an infant who cries a lot or has periods of inconsolable crying can be stressful. The stress can lead to questioning oneself, negative feelings toward the infant, and parental anxiety. Of course, you want to be able to soothe your baby, but sometimes even your best efforts might not work. Join for an informational session on how to cope with caring for an infant that is a high crier to understand the why behind the crying and what caregivers can do when they start to feel frustrated or overwhelmed. This course is geared toward those who are pregnant or have recently welcomed a newborn. Infant crying is often heightened in newborns between 2-8 weeks of age. This one-time class will be held virtually, with packet information to be picked up at the Early Childhood Family Center a few days before the class. This class lasts roughly 45 minutes and is offered each month on the second Tuesday at 1pm. Growing Physical and Emotional Regulation in Young ChildrenSpecial Classes and Family EventsPopularGrowing Physical and Emotional Regulation in Young Children 6 weeks Parents and caregivers of children ages 6 and under Virtual class meets live on Thursdays, January 16th, 23rd, 30th, Feb. 6th, and 13th from 8:15 - 9:15 pm on Thursday, Feb. 20th we will hold an optional in-person session with your children engaging in activities that support physical and emotional regulation. This in-person session will be held from 6:00 - 7:15 pm at the ECFC, Classroom 5 $75/ person or couple Supporting your child's emotional development can be overwhelming but a rewarding journey! One of early childhood's most important building blocks is teaching children to manage their emotions. Join us for discussions and learning on the different stages children go through when stressed and overwhelmed, and what you can do to support your children in finding greater self-control. We’ll discuss the impact of the caregiver’s ability to regulate, sleep needs, children’s developmental abilities, and what leads to dysregulation. STEM Adventures!Mixed AgesWaitlistYoung children are natural explorers! This class will focus on helping young children and parents explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics! Weekly activities will revolve around these STEM topics. This ECFE class will include time for parents and children to play together and a separation time where parents can discuss topics they are interested in. Join this class for a fun semester of observing and interacting with the world around us!
