Helping Kids Cope

Courses Adult / Body, Mind and Spirit -
Winter 2026

Families play a big role in supporting youth through stress and challenges. In this one-hour class, you’ll learn about common responses children and teens may have to stress and walk away with five practical tips you can use right away. We’ll also share helpful community resources for ongoing support.

There is no charge for this class thanks to a Vibrant Communities Mental Health grant from the Lower St. Croix Valley Foundation, St. Croix Valley Foundation and an anonymous donor advised fund.

Renee Labat

Renee Labat graduated from Luther Collegewith a degree in elementary education and a minor in Spanish in 2015, and is currently working on a Masters in Global Public Health at St. Catherine University. She has been working as the youth program coordinator at NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) for the last 6 years, where she coordinates and teaches classes about mental health for youth, parents, and educators. Renee lived with depression for 10 years before getting help, so her favorite part of her job is telling youth living with a mental illness that they are not alone, and they don't have to be afraid to reach out.
