  • Missoula Children's Theatre: Pinocchio

Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) will partner with Stillwater Community Education this summer to bring the story of Pinocchio! A team of two MCT Tour Actor/Directors will arrive with a set, lights, costumes, props, music, everything it takes to put on a show…except the cast! Kids can sign up to participate in this exciting and engaging experience during the week of August 12th-16th. Approximately 50-60 roles are available for kids in grades 3-7. There are also four Assistant Director positions available for kids ages 10+. Whether interested in an on-stage or backstage role, all kids must audition, and no advance preparation is necessary. Please note that rehearsal schedules will vary depending how your child is cast. They may not be called for each rehearsal. Children should only be in the building during their scheduled rehearsal times. Performances are scheduled for Friday, August 16th at 3:00 pm and 5:30pm at Rutherford Elementary School and are free for the public to attend. A bit more about the show: Geppetto fashioned the puppet in the image of a small boy. Even as the lonely and kind woodcarver worked far into the night, old Geppetto was not aware that the wood under the chisel had come from the trunk of an enchanted tree. But the Blue Fairy was aware, as she watched from afar and gave to that puppet the gift of life. Thus, begins the Missoula Children's Theatre adaptation of one of the most beloved of all children’s stories–PINOCCHIO. Join our wooden-head as he dances with Geppetto’s charming toys, travels the road to Pleasure Isle with Candlewick and his Crew, and is swindled by the unsavory Fox and Cat. After escaping the clutches of the evil puppet master, Stromboli, Pinocchio finds himself in trouble once more–this time swallowed by a monstrous whale. Very scary stuff! As Geppetto and the friendly Urchins spin their magical tale, we learn with Pinocchio that there are no shortcuts on the road to becoming a real, live boy.
