  • Base Camp at Fort Snelling

    Base Camp offers so many options that we couldn’t pick just one. You’ll get to make several attempts to scale the rock climbing wall or hit a bullseye at the indoor archery range.   • Biomimicry Design Camp

    Explore the homes and anatomy of critters and plants to sketch and then build possible solutions for global problems. We will go deep into observation mode outdoors to learn from nature, and each day, we will learn and try a new method that biomimeticists use for developing prototypes. Grown-ups invited to a design gallery on the last day, from 3:30-4:00 pm.
  • Birthday Parties at Oak-Land Pool

    Bring your child and up to fourteen of his/her friends to celebrate their birthday at the Pony Activity Center (PAC), Early Childhood Family Center (ECFC) or Oak-Land Middle School for a pool party. Birthday groups will have access to one gym for 1.5 hours with 30 minute reserved space for cake and refreshments. Pool birthday parties will have use of the pool for 1.25 hours with 45 minute reserved space for cake and refreshments. There will be staff on site to assist with setup/cleanup of equipment and answer any questions you may have during the party. Appropriate supervision of children (at least 2 adults) is required and must be present for the duration of the party. All food and refreshments are provided by the hosting birthday party group. Tables and chairs will be provided for food and refreshments. Latex balloons are not allowed for birthday parties due to allergies. Registration must be completed 14 days prior to the party date. Cancellations must be made two weeks prior to the party to receive a refund minus the $5 cancellation fee. All children attending the birthday party will need a signed waiver turned in before the birthday party begins. PAC Birthday Parties are intended for children ages 4-12 years of age. Gym games and activities may include: basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, whiffle ball, football and more. The staff will provide the necessary equipment; the host will organize and direct the party games. Parties available on select Saturdays and Sundays. Cost is $100 per party at the PAC. ECFC Birthday Parties are intended for children ages 2-6 years of age. We will provide hula hoops, scooters, trikes, play balls, small basketball hoops, gymnastics mats for tumbling, and access to our move and learn climbing town. Parties available on select Saturdays. Time of birthday party is dependent on building schedule. Cost: $155.00 at ECFC / 14 children max / 2 adults must be present for duration of party supervising the group of children. Pool Birthday Parties are intended for children ages 5-12 years of age. One Lifeguard will be provided and 2 adults must be present for the duration of the party. Only Coast Guard approved life jackets are allowed. No rafts, tubes or super-soakers. The Lifeguard will provide life jackets if needed; the host will organize and direct the party games. Parties available on select Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Cost is $225 per party at Oak-Land Middle School.     ** Please Note, the date in the printed calendar is not correct. This field trip will be on July 30th, NOT on July 24th.** Soak up the summer sun at Minnesota's largest outdoor water park located in Coon Rapids. Have a blast on the water slides, relax in the lazy river or get wacky in the wave pool. Bring along appropriate swimwear and optional money for concessions.     Need a break from the summer sun? Come discover the wonders of Crystal Cave. Explore the passage more than 70 feet below ground on a one hour walking tour. Learn about the history, geology, and bats of Wisconsin's longest cave! There will also be options for gem panning and mini-golf. We will eat lunch when we arrive, so please pack a bagged lunch and a drink.The cave can be cold and has a rough terrain, please wear good walking shoes and bring a warm layer.     Is your child ready for the independence of being home alone? Parents need to be sure their children have the skills and maturity to handle the responsibility safely. Whether it is for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, being trusted to be home alone can be a positive experience for a mature and well-prepared child. This class for children will address several topics relating to being “Home Alone,” including age guidelines, safe habits, house rules, after school routines, phone calls and door knocks, dog emergencies, personal safety, handling the unexpected, gun safety, severe weather, fire safety, intruders and first aid tips. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. Parents are encouraged to review the take home information and discuss it with their child. For ages 9 and older.

    MN Zoo

    Forget the drama and hang with llamas on this fun-filled day at the Minnesota Zoo. You can chill with the penguins or play it cool with the camels. Your group can explore the zoo at a turtle’s pace, or speed up to see more cool creatures. Either way, you’ll have some time to monkey around with friends and make some great memories! We recommend signing up with a friend or group of friends. Students will be encouraged to use the buddy system as they will be allowed to experience the park without direct supervision. All students will be expected to check in with chaperones at set times and locations throughout the day. It is very important to be on time for midday check in and departure times.     Let’s cheer on the Lady Lynx as they go head to head with the Atlanta Dream. Invite a friend to watch some basketball legends as they shoot hoops and defend their home court.     Bring your curiosity and wear your bug spray– these nature mysteries need your attention. Solve a different nature mystery outside each day! Explore the outdoors with short hikes while we look for animal signs, ask lots of questions, collect nature treasures, and poke stuff with sticks!
  • Nature Makers Club

    Get creative, curious, and imaginative! Learn to press and dry flowers, make art from leaves, and create mixed media collage. Each day we will find inspiration in nature before playing with a mix of supplies that include found nature items and recycled materials to develop a custom piece of art. Grown-ups welcome to view art gallery on last day, from 3:45-4:00 pm.

    Take me out to the ball game! We’ll be rooting for the home team with a visit to CHS Field to watch the St. Paul Saints take on the Omaha Storm Chasers! Watching a baseball game is a great time to sit back, relax, and hang out with friends. No outside food is allowed at CHS Field, with the exception of water. Food is available for purchase. Bring along comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and money for lunch. Bring appropriate swimwear if you plan to use the waterpark. We recommend signing up with a friend or group of friends. Students will be encouraged to use the buddy system as they will be allowed to experience the park without direct supervision. All students will be expected to check in with chaperones at set times and locations throughout the day. It is very important to be on time for midday check in and departure times. Please note that Valleyfair is now cashless, but there are kiosks where cash can be placed onto a debit card to be used throughout the park. Valleyfair does not take credit cards!
